Apricity
Lessons from Lovers
You felt like the warmth of the sun in winter. You pulled me out of the cold, warmed me from the inside out, And pumped warmth into my limbs. In places that have never felt warmth, I felt your presence and influence, Both swiftly and slowly lighting fires every time we touched. Now, I find the cold comforting, Grounding even, Especially compared to my sunburst with you. Rather than lying in the hot sand next you, I find solace in the breeze cutting through my clothing. Instead of the warm lake water washing over us, I find comfort in the ice covering the ground under my feet. Without you, I have learned to find my own apricity, Whereas with you, Its abundance was invigorating, Intoxicating, and short-lived. My own apricity, albeit different, will last for a lifetime.
